Our Commitment
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to the
principles of Open Government - Transparency, Accountability,
Participation and Collaboration.
We are demonstrating this
commitment by increasing access to information and data and increasing
opportunity for your involvement so that together we can develop better
programs, policies and services for the people of this province.
Open Government is a government-wide initiative which involves
commitment and action by all departments. The Office of Public
Engagement has led this initiative by carrying out a comprehensive
public engagement process, holding internal consultations, and
developing this province's first Open Government Action Plan, based on
the ideas and priorities of the people of the province.
We have
used a variety of online tools, including social media and feedback
forms, as well as in-person activities such as face-to-face meetings and
interactive sessions to inform the Open Government Action Plan . In the
development of this plan, we committed to gathering your ideas and
identifying the issues that are important to you. Throughout the
process, we shared the information we received as soon as it was
possible. We then analyzed all information collected and identified
important themes, issues and actions discussed by the public. This
information formed the foundation of the Action Plan, which we have
released in draft form in order to receive further public input before
it is finalized.
Newfoundland and Labrador's first Open Government Action Plan will contain concrete commitments based on the key issues and priorities identified by the public. We will also develop a process to evaluate progress of Action Plan items, and to be accountable to you.
